Weidner Apartment Homes Plans 212-Unit Community and Historic Jailhouse Restoration in Wenatchee

Weidner Apartment Homes announced plans to expand housing and restore a historic building in downtown Wenatchee, Washington.

The company is developing The Majestic Apartments, a 7-story, 212-unit residential community designed with Milbrandt Architects. According to the announcement, the building will feature a brick exterior, arched entries, and Art Deco design elements inspired by downtown Wenatchee's architecture. The development will include 100 public parking stalls in an underground garage. The Majestic is expected to be completed in summer 2027.

The project adds to the 1,626 residential units Weidner has developed in Moses Lake, Leavenworth, and Wenatchee.

Weidner is also restoring the former Wenatchee Jailhouse, a 2,736-square-foot building constructed in 1910 that served as the city's jail and has been vacant for decades. The company partnered with Graham Baba Architects to adapt the structure for food and beverage use. Dime Food Group, a local restaurant group, will operate two commercial spaces in the building, planned as a Spanish-style deli and a speakeasy. The restoration is expected to be completed in summer 2027.

Beyond real estate development, Weidner donated $7.5 million to the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center to support its renovation. In December 2025, the company's late founder and chairman, W. Dean Weidner, purchased the historic Wenatchee Valley YMCA's Lake Wenatchee Camp and entered into a 99-year, low-cost lease agreement with the YMCA. Weidner contributed $2 million as an endowed gift to preserve the camp.

"Weidner has an 18-year history of developing housing within the Wenatchee Valley, and our experience has been overwhelmingly positive," said Nick Nowotarski, Development Director at Weidner Apartment Homes. "We share the city's goal to encourage economic development within the downtown core while preserving Wenatchee's strong sense of community and character. Weidner is excited to be part of that growth."
